Independence Day CelebrationHollerwood had a great 4th of July celebration at the park. We shot fireworks off by the lake for over 30 minutes. All the riders seemed to enjoy it and the kids were absolutely delighted! We thank all the local businesses that donated to what turned out to be an unexpectedly fun evening! Building & Property UpdatesKeith Mason, Park Manager, has been working on improvements to the building and the property. We've been working on getting the A/C fixed inside the building. The new units will lower our continuing energy costs for operating the building. We've also been working on new trail access, as well as trail repairs. We've had use of some heavy equipment for the past few weeks, which has made the process go substantially smoother.

Secrets, Secrets...The board briefly reviewed the Sale Report from the last sales period, which was stellar, before entering in to Executive Session to discuss matters regarding current legal proceedings. Unfortunately, these discussions cannot be disclosed. We hope to have more information we can let everyone know about next time.
New ApparelWe have new apparel available at the Hollerwood Park Store. We have new hats, tanks, etc. Stop in on your next and check out the new offerings! Improvements With TrashWhile cleaning up some of the common trials at the park, we've noticed an improvement in the condition of trash and litter. While the problem isn't solved, we must give credit where credit is due... And that's to all of the excellent riders at the park. Thank you all for doing your part to keep Hollerwood clean. Legal UpdatesPark Manager, Tony Tipton, updated the board on recent legal proceedings involving some of our contested trails. This update occurred in Executive Session, so we can't share details, but the board has been updated and has full faith in Mr. Tipton and our attorneys regarding this matter.
Trail WorkThe good weather has given us an opportunity to begin forging some new trails as well as expanding on some old trails. We've had the bulldozer for over a month, so hopefully the public will be pleased with the latest modifications. A visit from the EPAThe EPA stopped in for an inspection since our last meeting. They looked over our lakes, trail crossings, and external artifacts (tanks and pumps that are not owned by us). The good news is that after a thorough review by over a dozen agents, we had no issues, no fines, no violations; overall, a clean bill of health. CampingHollerwood currently offers primitive camping on-site. We recently added rentable fire pits to help with guest comfort and to help address some of our trash problems. We're also working on adding electricity to the camping area. This is a much larger item, so it may take a bit longer... But the benefit of having electricity at the camp sites will be worth the wait. New ApparelWe're working on new shirts for the park. We've nearly depleted our initial stock from the Fall, so now is a great time to restock and redesign. We're working with local designers to gather ideas for some new shirts, so stay tuned.
Dozers for daysThe board approved money for more bulldozer work for the park. We're working on trails, working on the parking lot, but most importantly, working on making the park better. Adjusting pass pricesThe board discussed adjusting the price for passes. The motivation is that the board has always been to make this park a safe, fun, and sustainable place for outdoor recreation. As part of making the park sustainable, we need to generate enough revenue to pay all of our expenses; most significantly our lease payment. At our current pricing model, we're unable to meet our lease payment obligation, even though we've had an enthusiastic few months of being open. We want to make this project self-sustainable, and modifying our pricing structure is the only way we can accomplish this goal at this time. The new pricing model is $75 per annual vehicle price, $40 per monthly vehicle price, and $10 for non-motorized recreation, like fishing, climbing, and mountain biking. The new price goes in to effect immediately. Being good neighborsThe board heard again from some of our neighbors who had complaints about noise and unruly behavior. The board discussed what can be done to address their issues. We continue working with law enforcement to make sure that we have a safe and respectful park that everyone can enjoy. In addition to working at law enforcement, we will be deploying more signage to ensure people are aware of the rules of the park. Management ContractThe board renewed the management contract for KRCA, LLC. until September 30th, 2020. The terms were adjusted to be go from 60% Hollerwood/40% KRCA, LLC. to 67% Hollerwood/33% KRCA, LLC.
Forging new pathsBoard member and Trails Committee chairmen, James Neukam, has been working diligently on forging new trails at the park. The warm weather and clear tree-sight has provided an excellent opportunity to scout out paths for trail development. The wet weather will be a hindrance going forward, but we'll work through it. Expanding our trail network is vital for maintaining the superior experience we offer at Hollerwood Park. Hollerwood on the small screenDetails are still being worked out, but Hollerwood Park will likely be the focus of an episode of a popular cable TV show. Until things are finalized, we are unable to release any detail... But rest assured that once we are given approval, we will let you all know all the details. Stay tuned for more information! Stay informed and stay connectedDon't forget to check out the latest information on our Facebook page. We also post updates to all of our meetings and other events on there. This is the best way to hear about the latest news in real-time.
Business is booming! We've been busy, busy, busy at the park! Between the nicer weekends that we've been lucky to have and our Black Friday sale, which was a smahing success, we've barely had time to catch our breath. Things seem to be progressing just fine. Riders are happy, county officials are happy, and the board is thrilled! We know things will slow down as the weather gets bad, but we won't be. We'll be busy upgrading the building and trails for the Spring. Stay tuned for more updates! New Shirts & a New LogoOur merchandise has been flying off the shelf since we opened. We originally anticipated our supply of shirts and hoodies to last the winter, but our customers had other plans. Prior to ordering new merchandise, we're working on doing some updates on the logo. Look for that to hit the website and Facebook account in the coming weeks. Stepping up enforcementHollerwood has received complaints regarding disorderly behavior around our park. We absolutely and under no circumstance will tolerate this type of behavior. We're going to be working with local law enforcement to step-up patrols in the area. We ask any citizen to always follow the standard advice: "if you see something, say something". Please call 911 if you see anything or have any information regarding someone who shouldn't be on the road or is up to some malicious behavior. This park is a community effort and we need all members of the community to help keep it safe for everyone!
Special MeetingThe Hollerwood Park board met for a second week in a row in order to expedite the process of opening the park. With the recent change in the proposed management contractor, the board needs to regroup around the management concept for the park. The major hurdles are out of the way from the business perspective, but now we need to solve the problem of staffing, trail development, maintenance, and business management. The board went in to Executive Session as outlined on the Facebook Event to discuss personnel and exactly how to proceed.
Building UpgradesWe've been at work upgrading our office building. We've tackled some electrical issues; running new circuits, adding new exterior security lights, adding motion-sensor lights, etc. We've also added new security features to the park including improved access solutions and access auditing. Finally, we finally were able to acquire internet access for the office building. This was one of our last big hurdles before opening the park. Boneyard Off-Road ParkWe discussed the Boneyard off-road park. We've been in discussions with the managers of that park on how we can best cooperate with each other to make this area one of the best off-road destinations in the country. Contracting Out Park OperationsAllmotive, Inc. formerly was the only vendor to submit a bid for the management of the park. Due to expanded operational opportunities, they have since pulled their offer, but found a replacement group in KRCA, LLC. Representatives from KRCA, LLC. came to the meeting to answer any questions the board may have regarding the contract. The board entered in to executive session to discuss the contract.
'X' Marks the SpotTony Tipton, Project Manager, showed off the first look at the park map. This map was generated by overlaying multiple GIS sources. It's a rough draft, but it will give us a good look at the property as a whole. The board also reviewed printed maps from some competing parks to get a better view of what other parks are offering. The World Wide WebWe believe we have secured an option for providing internet to the building. This is a key component in interfacing our permitting and waiver systems with our online presence. It also gives us the ability to keep regular backups of our data. Under My UMBRELLAContractors came out to inspect what would be needed to prevent the roof on our future office building from leaking. The board took their recommendations under advisement. We hope to have the roof repaired soon. Management ContractThe board reviewed a line-item proposal from Allmotive, LLC. for operational management of Hollerwood Park. The board gave feedback and requested clarification on items. The proposal was well received, but will require further review.
